Sunset behind Peggy’s Point Lighthouse in Nova Scotia

The octagonal shape of Peggy’s Cove’s lighthouse is one of the most recognizable lighthouses in the world. The lighthouse is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Nova Scotia, and is photographed by many people every year.

In this image, the setting sun behind Peggy’s Point provides a glorious backdrop to highlight the unique rocky coastline of Nova Scotia. The water stretches almost to the horizon, allowing this beautiful red, yellow and orange sunset to fill the sky with its color.

The Peggy’s Point Light is still operated by the Canadian Coast Guard to assist mariners. The waves in Peggy’s Cove are extremely hazardous and unpredictable, occasionally claiming the lives of sightseers on the shore.
