Two Brown Bear Bear Cubs in Alaska Backcountry

Two Brown Bear Cubs in Alaska Backcountry— These two brown bear cubs amuse themselves on the rocky banks of the McNeil river while their mother goes fishing for dinner. Spring cubs are not large enough to enter a river like the McNeil without being swept away by the current, so the two young brown bears must find ways to keep busy while mom catches her food.

These two brown bear cubs are siblings. A female bear can give birth to a litter of anywhere from one to four cubs, although twins are the most common.
