A lone Bald Eagle flies peacefully over the Chilkat River in Haines, Alaska. Bald Eagles are powerful fliers, they soar on thermal convection currents and can reach speeds of up to 43 mph when gliding. Bald Eagles are mainly found near large bodies of open water with an abundant food supply, and trees for nesting.
