Chilkoot Lake Near Haines AlaskaJust after sunrise, Chilkoot Lake was as still as a mirror. I snapped this photograph after noticing how perfectly the water reflected the landscape and the clouds.
The name “Chilkoot” means “Big Fish” in the language of the native Tlingit people.

Sally Lightfoot Crab Close UpSally Lightfoot crabs are one of the symbols of the Galapagos Islands, seen in great numbers on almost any shoreline in the archipelago. As scavengers, they’ll eat just about anything they can get their claws on, from ticks and algae to the young of other species.
The Sally Lightfoot crab’s willingness to eat almost anything makes it a great cleaner. It’s often seen picking bugs off the skin of other shoreline dwellers. On the mainland, Sally Lightfoots are popular as “janitors” for reef tanks.

Great Frigatebird Pouch Display Mating BehaviorThese great frigatebirds can stay in the sky for weeks at a time, riding the thermals and stealing other seabirds’ fish. But they’re on land right now, because that’s where the ladies are.
During mating season, male frigatebirds inflate the scarlet air pouches on their necks, hoping a female will be impressed by the size of the display. Once paired off, the male will gather materials for the female to build a nest with.

Action Shots Of Bear Cubs Playing In GrassGetting in on the action - This photo captures a heart warming moment in the Alaskan wilderness as a pair of bear cubs play in the grass. The series of action shots portray two young grizzly bear cubs as they tussle, tangle, embrace and nuzzle one another in a grassy basin in the heart of bear country. These clumsy, playful cubs aren't only engaging in horseplay, they are honing in on their instincts with their mother watching close by.

Bald Eagle AttackedThis composite image is composed of three frames stitched together. The composite shows one eagle attacking another, taking out competition for the meagre selection of fish in the river.

Denali In Black And WhiteIt is rare that Denali is out for viewing as only 30% of visitors to Denali National Park see the mountain. After many attempts, I was fortunate enough to not only see it on a clear day, but to capture a perfect refection of the "Great One" as the sun painted it orange. The reflection pond near the end of the park road serves as a perfect location to capture not one but two images of the magnificent peak.

Two Cute Baby Bears Sitting In A FieldTwo cute baby bears sit next to each other in this wide-angle photograph. The bears sit in a grassy field with yellow flowers in the background. These two cute baby bears live in the Alaskan backcountry, where grizzly bears and brown bears such as these are more plentiful than humans.
While their mother, an Alaskan Grizzly Bear was grazing for some much needed food, these two cute baby bear cubs were patiently waiting on her return. The twins were born this year and are unable to fish for themselves. Baby bears which are younger than one year old are called spring cubs. Adolescents are called yearling cubs. These two adorable babies are spring cubs.

Getting Your Eagles In A Row CloseupGetting your eagles in a row— These four eagles posed in a perfect line for us.
This silly scene was captured on the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve near Haines, Alaska. The birds flock to the preserve in early November to feed on the salmon, which will be extra plentiful in the area at this time.
Bald Eagles often fight with each other, but only if there is food at stake. These four eagles were simply lounging in the river, occasionally preening themselves.
