Bald Eagle atop a spruce tree at sunset

This bald eagle perches atop a sitka spruce tree. We captured this image around sunset, which casts a unique light on the huge sitka spruce which the bald eagle is using to rest.

This eagle was photographed near Chilkoot Lake and River in Alaska. This is one of my favorite spots to photograph wildlife in Alaska. The area is heavily trafficked by both bald eagles and grizzly bears.
