A bald eagle pauses in the middle of a meal to cry out. Ornithologists don’t yet know all the reasons that bald eagles call, but this one might be summoning its mate and/or chick to join in the meal.
Conversely, it might be warning an unfamiliar eagle to stay away. Most fights between bald eagles start over food.
