Red-eyed tree frog picture while perched on red flower

Red eyed tree frog picture while sitting atop red coned flower. Normally these frogs are nocturnal, choosing to sleep on the underside of a forest leaf for safety during the day. When the rainy season hits, these frogs spring into action, searching for food and mates day and night.

Here we see this anuran, belonging to the order of tailless amphibians, perched on this forest flower. To put it in perspective, the largest of the species are the females at twice the size of the males. Even then, she may reach up to 2.7 inches. Most of the males will be just above 2 inch in length. An amazing closeup frog picture shot during one of our wildlife photo tours in Costa Rica.
