Bald eagles scoop salmon from the Chilkat River

A congregation of bald eagles gather in the early winter to feast on dead and dying salmon from the Chilkat River. A natural phenomenon keeps the river from freezing so the eagles can feast on fish late in the season. The area serves as a critical habitat for bald eagle survival.
