Amazing closeup bird image of Fiery-throated hummingbird feasting on nectar. This species is endemic, or native, to Costa Rica and Panama. Seen with its full wingspan on display, this dynamic still captures the speed of their wing beats. Note the orange gorget, or throat patching, bearing its namesake and the iridescent violet and green plumage. Researchers refer to this avian as a medium-sized hummingbird weighing in around 6 grams or 0.2 ounces. They eat roughly half their body weight in food every day and have evolved with the foliage around them. This vibrantly feathered bird enjoys brightly colored flowers!
