Descending Eagle on the Hunt

An eagle on the hunt descends from the sky above as it circles its would-be prey. This closeup inflight bald eagle picture shows the intensity of this predatory bird. By turning ever so slightly, this eagle angles itself for optimal positioning. Once set, this eagle can dive directly in the water to capture its meal at break neck speeds.

This adult bald eagle flies against the softened Alaskan forest in the background. With powerful talons and wings, this eagle can pluck a 15+ pound fish from the icy waters below. So much action on the banks of the Chilkat River during Fall Congregation.
