Galapagos Fur Seal Raising Head

Unlike the Galápagos sea lion, to which it looks very similar, the Galápagos fur seal is nocturnal, resting on its beaches during the day and fishing by night.

In this photograph, look for the fur seal’s key differences: prominent ears, thicker coat, and big front flippers that help it climb around the slick rocks.
