Snowy owl soaring over the tundra

This snowy owl turns to look at the photographer as it goes soaring over the tundra. This female snowy owl is searching for threats to her nest. Female snowy owls can be identified by their speckled feathers. Female snowy owls have brown feathers in addition to their white plumage. Male snowy owls are a pure, iridescent white.
