Super Moon with Bald Eagle

The largest super moon in 33 years, and I was fortunate enough to photograph this Alaskan eagle perched in front of it! The Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve has the world’s largest bald eagle population. Year round 200-400 eagles call this area home. During Fall Congregation there are as many as 4,000 bald eagles that migrate here to partake in the abundance of salmon. There are actually two subspecies of bald eagle, northern and southern. You may have guessed that the Northern Bald Eagle resides in Alaska. The northern subspecies is slightly larger than their southern cousins. Meaning the Chilkat River Valley has the largest population of the largest bald eagles on the planet!
