Three Toed Sloth in Sarapiqui Costa Rica

It’s not exactly difficult to get a three-toed sloth to stand still for a picture as they move from branch to branch.

You might already know that the sloths of Central and South America are nature’s slowest mammals, but this picture showcases another trait of these remarkable creatures: the immense upper-body strength that lets them hang from tree branches for hours. The sloths can even nap suspended in the tree anywhere from 15 to 20 hours.

Try hanging from a pull-up bar for 15 hours straight, and you’ll never call a sloth lazy again!
