White Faced Capuchin in Costa Rica

This white-faced capuchin we snapped a picture of in Costa Rica should be proud: it’s one of the world’s smartest animals. Once famous for performing with organ grinders, capuchin monkeys are now trained as service animals for people with physical disabilities.

They’re not just useful to humans, either. White-faced capuchin monkeys are a keystone species in the Costa Rican jungles, spreading seeds and pollen as they explore the canopy in search of food.
