Greater Flamingo in the Galapagos Islands

This greater flamingo’s oddly shaped bill means it can only feed with its head upside down. It’s waiting for the go-ahead from the rest of its flock before sticking its head underwater, where it will be defenseless while it eats.

The eastern side of the Galápagos Islands, including Rabida where this picture was taken, is a fantastic place to see a huge variety of rare seabirds.
